Today Austin was flown by CareFlight to Baylor hospital in downtown Dallas. The doctor/nurse discovered this morning, after doing a routine X-ray, that there was an issue with his intestines which was filling his abdominal cavity with air.
By 1:00pm he was on his way. Once he was admitted and stabilized they began the operation. The surgeon found a small perforation on Austin's small intestine and repaired it by doing a stoma. For the next six weeks, that section of his intestine will open to the outside and then he will have another surgery to close it.
We have been blessed over and over throughout this. From the doctors knowing that it was the time to deliver to the NICU staff that noticed something not quite right on his X-ray and getting him transported quickly. Also to the team of doctors I've never met that performed the surgery and corrected the problem. Thankfully Jacob and Judy, Jacobs mom, were at the hospital for the procedure and were able to meet with the doctors after they were done.
Please pray that Austin heals quickly so that he can be fed and continue to grow. Please pray that there are no additional complications to his tiny, fragile little body. Please pray for the continued wisdom of the medical staff that is caring for him.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support! We are seeing results!
